l'amour fou

I adore Yves Saint Laurent!
And I can't wait to see this film. I remember when I was little watching these fashion shows on Fashion TV with my grandmother and my mum.
And certainly I can relate, as now I think a lot about the things that are collected over a life time by someone, and then when that someone is gone, it's what you physically have left. And how the importance of those object can change in an instance!
I will be seeing this as soon as I can!

read more about it here

some seriously amazing street fashion from the Seeberger Brothers
i can't believe this was the 1930's!
thinking about all the street fashion photography we see every day, this is where it began

i just love the woman's outfit in the top photo!
her cute hat makes the outfit
hats are something i love, and want to wear more of

and you have to love the lady in polka dots with her matching pup!
now that is some seriously fun fashion!

auerglass

this is so beautiful

The Auerglass is a two person pump organ created by Tauba Auerbach and Cameron Mesirow.
The instrument cannot be played alone. Each player has a keyboard with alternating notes of a
four octave scale. Each player must pump to supply the wind to the other player's notes.

kingfisher

For a while I have been on the hunt for an antique Chinese hairpin with kingfisher feathers.
I found one a month ago but didn't snatch it up in time and it got away.
My mum and grandmother had a few beads with kingfisher feathers and I remember them from when I was little.
They are so exotic and beautiful, and that color blue is just so intense.
The feathers of a kingfisher bird act like prisms and light is bent and reflected back out, this is what makes the color so vivid.
As well as the color, I am totally drawn into the intricacies and intense detail of the objects. The feathers are carefully cut and glued onto silver.
No enamel at the time was able to rival the electric blue.
Check out this crazy headdress, the Phoenix Crown, from the Ming Dynasty

amazing!
