from around

- amazing natural phenomena... ice halos

- an animated homage to Peter Saville's artwork for Joy Division, on the awesome Afterzine site.

- boys, the trouble with female celebrities and the men that write them. I found this interesting... and true. We deserve a change.

- Raf Simon's inspiring Spring 2013 collection for Dior Couture. Love this, this and this, and this yellow dress steals the show.

- i am bonkers for kale! And apparently, according to my friend Cheri, kale is rather hard to come by in Paris, I found this to be true when I lived there too. Which is why I love The Kale Project. (thanks CC for sending this my way)

- rodeo queen: i love a lady who loves pink!

- read about the incredible life of Olga Kevelos, among her many inspiring achievements she was a motorcyclist and the only woman to ever win two gold metals for the Six-Day event. What an inspiring woman! More great photos can be found here.

- how good are you at finding the center of a circle, bisecting an angle, or making a parallelogram... all by eye? Find out here. (my inner carpenter/lover of building things comes out)

- i can't stop thinking about this Laura Owens show! It blew my mind, best painting show in LA.

- this Viva Vena video has me cracking up. SO good! (thanks CR)

- do yourself a favor, and take a few minuets to sit down and read this amazing letter from Henry Miller to Anais Nin during their love affair. I love this site, and Lili pointed this very special post out to me. WOWZERS! I want a wild love like this! What passion!
My favorite is the last paragraph:
I say this is a wild dream—but it is this dream I want to realize. Life and literature combined, love the dynamo, you with your chameleon's soul giving me a thousand loves, being anchored always in no matter what storm, home wherever we are. In the mornings, continuing where we left off. Resurrection after resurrection. You asserting yourself, getting the rich varied life you desire; and the more you assert yourself the more you want me, need me. Your voice getting hoarser, deeper, your eyes blacker, your blood thicker, your body fuller. A voluptuous servility and tyrannical necessity. More cruel now than before—consciously, wilfully cruel. The insatiable delight of experience.

- and last, but certainly not least, I was thrilled to see my friend Claire's A Week in Culture diary on one of my daily reads, The Paris Review. AND! on top of that, check out her serene home on Design Sponge. Love that CC!
